>>857847
Its awful to see
I never bought something literally everyday
But they all sound important ? I can't say to my sister "no a haircut and a new outfit are just asking too much" but it kinda is when she already asked for stuff yesterday

 No.857849

>>857846
God I know that pain.
One idea is to say you'll "get to it when you can" or that it's not in your budget right now. It's also a good idea to keep a list of everything she's asking for; not so that you can get to it, but so that you've got documented proof of what and how much she's asking for from you, so that if she runs crying to somebody when you cut her off, you've got proof that she was going overboard and blowing all your money.

 No.857850

>>857848
You need a haircut once every 2 month at most unless you're in the military.
You need a new outfit once the old one can no longer be repaired, which usually takes several years.

At least she will have a job in fall and stop begging from us.

Also she bought me some dumb cheap birthday figure and will probably hold it against me, like somehow the gift I told her I didn't need and she insisted on getting, and probably used 15 dollars on, stops her from getting 25 dollar special shoes for work

 No.857854

>>857852
Know where I can buy any? And a funnel to feed it to her?

 No.857855

>>857851
Yeah, I sort of expected she'd do that.
I don't really know the best way to deal with it, but the only way my dad's managed to curb my Mom's attempts to bankrupt us again is to completely cut her out of the budget, aside from some money in a joint account that allows her to do some essentials like getting groceries.
In other words, set a hard limit on how much money she gets from you each month or however long, weather through the autistic bitch-fit, and emerge with your wallet intact.

 No.857856

>>857855
Wish she were just a reasonable person instead

 No.857857

>>857854
Yes
Stop catering to her 'needs'
And if you need it in big gulp size, make sure nobody else enables her either. Family solidarity is fine in times of actual need - when someone loses a job or gets sick or something - but if you want something as a voting age adult, earn it yourself

 No.857858

>>857856
So do I, but she clearly isn't, and that won't change until she's forced to be accountable for herself, and maybe not even then.
If I ever find out how to get my mom to be reasonable, I'll let you know so you can try it on your sister.

Unfortunately, this town has a real drug problem, and Mom's beligerence towards the family doctor because the doctor doesn't just do what she wants probably made her come off as a druggie.
Considering that she's been tearing up her room, digging through the dog meds, and generally putting more effort into chasing ghost-pills that may or may not exist, but that she's convinced are there, doesn't really help her case any.

 No.858159

You do have to remember that they are based on the Japanese, centuries into the future, with a different world to deal with. A lot of the stuff makes sense from their perspective.

>1 in Tech

I'm already breaking his things, wonder how he'll react when he has to fix other people's stuff

 No.858160

>>858159
I'm more talking about their awareness and foresight skills, or lack thereof.
>Mech you have been hammering and cutting away at for at least a day, maybe longer, without so much as scratching the paint
"Like I keep saying, we should just take the thing apart and ditch the kid!"
>Kid and his mech obliterate a pirate fleet and almost every pirate in it within the span of 15 seconds, with enough precision to hit guys right next to the girls being attacked without collateralling them, and powerful enough to evaporate them
"Let's sit around and discuss either handing him over to the pirates or just killing him and taking his mech, and just take for granted that it's something we're actually able to do."
>Guy who has stated himself to be a soldier, talks about a war in space, has on several occasions prior had violent outbursts without seeming to understand why that's bad
>has an incredibly violent and extreme reaction to being served octopus, drawing his weapon and calling it the name he uses for the enemy he was fighting in space
"Think we should explain beforehand about the incredibly sacred and revered Whalesquids that are in all likelyhood going to trigger his PTSD and possibly commit one of our biggest taboos? Nah, let's just joke about how his reaction to Whalesquids will be more extreme than his reaction to the octopus instead!"

Like, for a show with a theme of learning to understand and coexist with other people, they only ever seem to think about possible consequences once it's already blown up in their face. The last example is the worst for me; spoilers aside about justifications and whatnot, for how important Whalesquids apparently are in their society, they really should have seen it coming and taken steps to avoid it.

 No.858161

>>858160
They thought the mech was like theirs, not an independent unit.

>pirate killing

They mention it a few times.

"What if he leaves?"

>>858161
For the first one, I was more talking about "You spent all day trying to take it apart while it just laid there and you still couldn't scratch the paint; what makes you think you'll have better luck when it's up and functioning?"

They do mention that they'd be hosed if he just left, and at the end one of them does point out that if he wanted, he could destroy the whole fleet, it just takes them an entire episode to figure it out, when you'd think the first thought after seeing that one-sided massacre would be "Okay, what do we do to make sure that doesn't get pointed at us?"

The point's not whether the whalesquids are the same as his PTSD ones, the fact that one of them jokes about his sudden, violent reaction to octopus by saying, "If that's how you react to octopus, imagine how he'll react to Whalesquids!"
And then he acts exactly like all the signs that you saw AND ACKNOWLEDGED implied he would.
And then you are horrified that he went and broke this taboo you never told him about regarding this thing you knew he'd react badly to and never once think "you know, maybe I should have warned him."

For that matter, their surprise means that they've not asked him about the war or the enemies he was fighting AT ALL. Which is incredibly stupid, because if a soldier washes up on your island, there's a good chance that either his army or the one he was fighting are going to come looking for him. And they never thought to ask, "hey, if these guys come looking for you, how do we tell which ones are going to kill us if they see you?"

He's a genius, he'll figure it out.

He thinks highly of himself, so that's why he suggested it. But the others do shoot him down pretty easily.

>one sided

It's more of that fact that he exists now. It's like having a nuke. Even if you don't want to use it, it's there and it's going to cause you problems. Just having to deal with Chamber's ability is a problem they didn't want.

>Whalesquid issue

I think they sort of answer that question. They try to triangulate their position, and even with Chamber's ability, they can not. The war is just SO FAR AWAY, that no one can imagine it coming towards them.

The Whalesquid on Earth are also different. They're much more neutral than the maneaters we saw at the beginning.

There is a Light Novel sequel. Have you read it?

I guess it could be considered a message in and of itself: if it affects or affected somebody you know, then it's indirectly affecting you too, so don't just ignore it. Or something along those lines.

…The whole scavenging-the-ocean-floor bit is still bullshit though. Either things were built with future-tech before the Ice age, and thus wouldn't be as rusty as it all is, or it isn't, in which case it would have eroded away into nothing.

The target audience and the people who will buy it are the parents with hyperactive kids who need to give said kids something to keep them distracted so that the parents can do things without having to go deal with the kid every five minutes.
As someone who deals with a hyperactive child on a regular basis, there's definitely an appeal to the concept. However, the fact that a significant portion of the net is autistic (ie said hyperactive children, just grown up) resulted in the damn things getting memed to hell and back.

Schlock Mercenary is pretty great, yeah. It's a heck of an archive binge, since the guy's been updating regularly since 2000 without any real gaps or delays, but the guy clearly understands hard physics enough to lampshade when he has to do it wrong because the correct way wouldn't work for an audience.
It's also fun because it doesn't take itself seriously; everything's grounded in actual science, but it's often taken to the extremes.

Reasonably well. I had an eye-doctor appointment today, and apparently I've developed a bit of astigmatism, so my prescription's in need of adjustment.
It's not supposed to be serious since most people have some form of it, but the fact that it's a new development has me kind of nervous. Hopefully it's just a result of the jaw surgery altering the support structure for my eyes or something.
How about you? Busy day at work?

A) Dragon Empire - set in the same world as OTR, it happens in the Dragon Emperor's realm. A more oriental flavored quest with the party being lost in a foreign land looking for a way back home, while delving into the culture and secrets of the locals.

B) Vault Quest - no not fallout. But a brave party of ponies seeking out ancient vaults filled with unknown treasure from times past that have been found in the far corners of Equestria.

I did have to bail on a hag run earlier thanks to running into two teams of smaller hags/cultists/fungal giants. Between the cultist and the small hag they nuked my light sources/jacked up stress (to the point my healer was almost afflicted before the first one was over), and the giant's fucking shuffle spores were not helping. And since I didn't really have anyone able to hit the back rows, I couldn't bypass that 2-space wide bastard except with my jester's thing that targets the 2nd/3rd slots. Couldn't even touch the bitch in the way back until after one of the other two were dead and their corpses removed.
The fact I still managed to run a profit off the adventure was luck, though.

>Hold Up

>There's an error in the Sustained Fire, Energy Orb, Chaos, Drippled debuff, description

In the Attacking area, we can make it a bit clearer.

The standard attack roll is in the list posted below. Certain weapons modify the chart in ways mentioned in their rules. Unarmed attacks without a modifier deal -2 damage even when they connect.
>List here
Enemies attack and defend separately from the players, and are rolled for by the GM.

To save on ink, you should be able to get rid of the "Summary:" part for most weapons.

Wouldn't Grenades just be 1 space? Or is that only for the first one purchased?

Might be a good idea to toss the Table treatment to Weapon and Armor mods as well.

The Fallout System survives in the Condition notes. Leave it in.

I think you'd benefit from drawing machines and robots. You don't have to do angular like the Transformers, but trying for a Bastion-like robot that is part of nature might help.

Besides, there aren't too many artists drawing robots. Another niche for you to exploit.

If you want to try drawing machines, it might be a good idea to start with Covenant from Halo and their war-machines. There's lots of curves and rounded edges like you'd use drawing something more organic, while helping you learn things like perspective as they relate to vehicles.

 No.858525

Of course you would suggest halo!
Now jokes aside I don't really like much of these war machines
What I really really like about robots and machines is seeing their parts moving and operating, the gears turning and mills moving like with Bastion! Or in that movie Robots, you know?

>Some Abilities have the asterisk (*) on them, but it doesn't lead anywhere. Was there supposed to be something for it? The Heavy weapons also have double **.
Right, that was originally to denote abilities that had been recently added, so that they could be removed if they were too unliked/unnecessary. The double-asterisk was to denote them being heavy weapons, ie the biggest of the big guns. I'll have to check the old docs to see if the old footnote about that is still around and relevant, or if I should just remove the asterisks.
>Hold Up
>There's an error in the Sustained Fire, Energy Orb, Chaos, Drippled debuff, description
What type of error? And what's the issue with Hold-Up?

Text added, that should help.

The "summary" was always more for people with digital sheets, so they could tell exactly what modifiers they have at a glance. I suppose it's not necessary, I just thought it convenient. I'll try linking a doc with the weapon summaries, while removing them from the main doc.

>Wouldn't Grenades just be 1 space? Or is that only for the first one purchased?

Yes, grenades take up 1 space each, so 2 grenades take 2 space, 3 take 3 space, and so forth.

I'll work on putting the armor/weapon mods in tables too when I get the chance.
Are you asking me to leave the Condition system in, or saying it's a holdover that needs to be removed?

 No.858561

>>858557
>>858560
Ah, I found the old note. Originally, the "heavy weapons" were supposed to be difficult to add mods to, hence the double-asterisks. Ultimately I figured that the price-gap for those weapons does a sufficient job of discouraging modding them, but we can always bring that rule back if you'd like.

That and my mom's useless when it comes to actually making a decision or doing something or making a deadline. she just complains about it not getting done right.
>>858574
It's more fucked up because my dad's very emotionally vulnerable about this stuff; he initially didn't want to get dogs because he knew it would hurt when their time was up.
Which makes it even more of a dick move on my mom's part because she has to know how sensitive a subject it is for my dad. It wasn't helped that she was bringing it up as my dad was trying to work in the kitchen, talking about the dog dying in the same way she'd talk about the bushes needing planting, or the trash needing to get taken out.

Honestly, I'm not sure which is worse; that my mom may be so autistic that she literally doesn't understand why she's always hurting everybody's feelings, or that she so egocentric that she just doesn't care, because she's "just telling it like it is."

It's the day we officially stopped fighting for representation in the English Parliament and declared our intention to be our own nation.
It also serves to celebrate our nation's founding, since the actual end of the war is very muddled, due to delays in communication, pockets of fighting, and the end of the armed conflict coming years before England officially declared the colonies to no longer be worth the trouble.

Ah, so you celebrated early. That's fair; fireworks have been going off intermittently for the past couple of days, even in New York.

I remember how I wrote in nothing but cursive for the longest time, because the school I'd gone to in North Carolina made it mandatory for you to write in cursive. I think it was a good thing- my cursive's still messy, but it's miles ahead of the cursive I've seen from other kids who were in public schools from day one.

I should probably try drawing sometime too. It's just a matter of finding a time where I know I won't be interrupted, and a spot where I don't feel cramped.

>>858688
Yeah, that's the arguments
Molesting kids is obviously a crime
Producing images and whatnot is also obviously a crime, and so is looking for it/paying for it/DL-ing it for the obvious reason that it encourages molestation

Fucking a robot that looks like a kid is obviously a victimless crime though, and I think it's a fallacy to say that it would 'normalize' this behaviour. It would still be unacceptable, but they'd have an outlet.

Unless the robot is like the kid from the movie AI.

 No.858692

>>858688
One would imagine that's their general purpose.
Buy a kid bot and fuck it without needing to worry about raping an actual person.

 No.858696

I guess it depends on whether mankind can create actual sentience or not.
If it is just a recording screaming for help, that's fucked up, but still harmless.
If we create sentience just to literally torture it, that's… kind of fucked up? Even if it is a robot? That's not an issue for this century, but for the future of AI.

Drug addicts start with relatively harmless drugs, in the end that becomes not good enough.

While I don't think these robots would normalize pedophilia I think other societal trends could be far better at that such as the rise in child weddings in Europe., the idea that it would somehow be an outlet and prevent child rape is just fantasy to me.
You should be discouraging pedophilia in any way possible, not giving it a place in society.

 No.858699

>>858696
I know the common arguments, and while I see where a lot of them come from many of them also tend to sound like "well if we have legal gay porn then everyone will become gay and humans go extinct".
As for cp production, I'd imagine it kinda falls into several categories
-people who make it to sell it, either as bootleg dvds in thailand or on some deep web whatever marketplaces
-people who upload their home videos for the sake of sharing
Neither of those types is going to stop production because they are getting no downloads on whatever the modern equivalent of Limewire is. The only one who might care about free download counts is the guy who embeds viruses into them.

 No.858701

Well, yes, I agree it should be discouraged and shunned as a practice.

On the other hand, as DM said, a lot of these people probably do not choose to have these urges and there's not much that can be done for them. Worse, they probably can't even get help from anywhere. It really is a dilemma that has no good answer right now. And I don't want to defend them, not by any means, especially not those who act on the urges and do horrible stuff to kids but then again, they are sick in the head to begin with.

>>858699

Everybody has urges. People have urges to kill. Urges to do terrible things to their loved ones or themselves. People have urges to do sexual things that would be inappropriate.
Part of being in a civilized society is learning to not give in to those urges. I do not blame these pedophiles for having urges. I blame those who give in to them.

I'm sure there's many pedophiles who live amongst us and you'd never even know since they just decide to keep that shit in their head.
I'd salute those people but I never will because they'll never tell.

If it comes to the point where they're watching child porn, it's become a mental disease. And letting people fuck child like dolls is not keeping your urges in.
