Back, and looking over the thread I think there's something that bears pointing out, just in case it's been missed or misunderstood:
Rachel has a big riot shield, which can be deployed to reduce the odds of incoming fire hitting by -2. HOWEVER, having that shield deployed slows her down. Now, it makes sense that most of this was done with her in jet-form and juking around, but it bears mentioning that while she was doing all that flying around, she wouldn't be benefiting from the shield's bonuses.
In other words, you can be flighty and fragile, or you can plant yourself and be able to take a hit, but you can't do both.
Just something to keep in mind.

So the ending cinematic for the new raid is out
Kil'jaedan admits he always envied Velen for his faith and willpower, and says he chose to join sargeras only because he could not believe anyone could stop the Legion.
Illidan then opens a portal from Argus (you fought Kil'jaedan there) to Azeroth and Khadgar teleports everyone home. However the portal remains open and Argus now looms in the sky above Azeroth. Illidan says this was the plan all along.

So now people are of course speculating about what it all means.

It seems kil'jaedan ended up as the half way point between Velen fully rejecting sargeras and Archimonde fully embracing him.
In the 7.2 cinematic he argues with sargeras but chooses to shut up before he goes too far. It's a notable step from his usual behaviour but he still shows no remorse or regret over what he did for the Legion. He just said he did it less because he wanted to and more because he saw no other reasonable option.
Much like Algalon and Ra-den, he too admits that perhaps he was wrong about the sheer strength of the armies of Azeroth.

I've got all the Weapons and Weapon tags in the Macross system organized into Tables now, with different tables for Unarmed, Melee, Pistols, Rifles, ect. I'm working in a different doc to see if I can tag on summaries for weapons to make it easier to track things like effective range without turning it into the dreaded wall of filler text. Worst comes to worst, I'll just add in a link to the doc with the weapon summaries, so people can get the main idea from the main doc, then go to the link for the number-crunch version.

Also nerfed the Missile Rack by cutting it's ammo capacity in half; now it's just like all the other Explosive options and needs to be reloaded after being fired once.

I think having abilities get negated by cover is something that needs changing, for several reasons, though the main ones are that the majority of abilities that deal damage are either Melee abilities (and thus unaffected by cover anyway, outside of somebody having a shield), or explicitly ignore cover.

That's what I was thinking, yes. Though I think you're misremembering the effect of cover; it doesn't necessarily reduce damage, it makes you harder to hit. I suppose that can mean that it's somewhat reducing damage, if the point at which they start taking damage is higher.
With Abilities it's much more clear, especially with non-damaging Abilities. They either affect the target or they don't, and that increased penalty to hit means a smaller window in which they get it to hit.

I think I'm going to leave the table borders as they are. the visual dividing into specific categories helps you find what you're looking for faster.

I also clarified that Shields need to be "deployed" as an Instant action to get their benefit. Also gave the Ripper melee weapon Rapid-Fire since it's a handheld mini-chainsaw, then added an actual Chainsaw with Bullet-Spray(though it's also heavier.)

The worst part of them is that if they crit, they inflict both the Crippled penalty AND the Cut penalty.
Of course, it's a Melee weapon, and having multiple rolls can backfire by increasing the odds of a critfail.

Oh boy
I have just discovered an oversight, both on my part and that of everyone else. "Effective range" for weapons is not written as the optimal range for weapons, it's the extreme limits of their range, and thus suffers a -1 penalty.
I'm tempted to just rewrite the rule to say it's the farthest the weapon can shoot without penalty, but you should have a say in this too. Would you like things to stay as they are, or does this shift sound interesting? Because honestly, it might shake things up a bit and make those devoted long-range options more tempting.

You got it! In that case, keep it in mind while running; if we're shooting at the Effective range of our weapons, there's a -1 penalty. To be fair, it mostly means that our base +1 with our weapon of choice is negated, but it's still incentive to either get closer or get longer-range weapons.

All right Macross players, the Weapons section has been updated with tables that should make it easier to sort out what you want, and more importantly, has a summary of bonuses and modifiers of each weapon listed at the bottom. Hopefully this helps clarify exactly what everybody's gun does.

It's also worth noting that we've discovered an oversight: a weapon's effective range is the farthest that it CAN fire and still have effect, NOT, as we previously assumed, the furthest you could fire without penalty. This means that attacks at Effective Range suffer a -1 penalty.
Most of you invested in your skills enough to get a +1 with your weapon of choice, so you probably won't be shooting with a penalty at max range. However, you won't be shooting with a bonus, either. Something to keep in mind the next time things go south!

As someone who has regularly worked with chainsaws and knows exactly how impractical and ineffective they would be as a combat weapon, I say it's just for fun, so shush.
I could try and justify it with techological advancements or energy weapons or what have you, but it's a system where the humans are in Combat mechs, which are something that would only ever work as bumfuck-rednecks taking their farming/industry mechs and strapping guns onto them, because any military would just take the advancements that made mechs possible and use them to make better tanks.

…Though I should also mention, the Ripper and Chainsaw get increased critfail range for a reason.

Agreed; the system was built on S10's simple roots, but with the intention of adding enough complexity to give players options. The caveat is that you need to keep track of those options- it's no 600-page tome of rules for absolutely everything, but there's several subsystems in play to give the player options beyond "hit it until it dies."
It's great for the players, but it's a nightmare for a GM if the players aren't keeping track of their own bonuses and skills.
>>857248
The Canteen was a holdover from when the damage scales were pretty much the same, but you only started out with 20 HP, so that healing could be critical for surviving a single firefight. Here, we've got another 20 points of shields, and since Knight's been taking it easy on us, nobody's really been in a life-or-death situation yet, and if they were they'd just need to disengage and let their shields start recharging.

Doom's good at what it does, so if you like going through slaughtering you're enemies you'll have a blast.
Dishonored 2 has a stealth system and interesting story, so there's more room to be creative about either killing or eliminating non-lethally, but it's a bit more controversial- some of the story elements are less than popular, and some of the powers are absolute bullshit that can make the game feel unchallenging.

Halcyon 6 is pretty fun, at least it has been for me. It does a really good job of making you run around trying to get your ships collecting as many materials as possible, and you never have enough to do everything, so you have to pick and choose between drones to automate resource collection from one place, or a new warship, or a new building, and all of this takes time and the focus of one of your officers, of which you don't have many.
I don't know if it starts falling apart once you've got drones at every resource-place, but so far the pace has been pretty good, and I've had fun. Not sure I'm going to win this first game, but I'm having fun.

You're a research outpost at a recently-discovered Precursor space-station, studying it for the human Federation, when suddenly the fleet defending you gets recalled, the redevous point is empty, and a sentient flesh-planet shows up and wipes them- and presumably most of the Federation- out. Your job is to recruit Officers, make contact with other colonies and outposts(your source of revenue for the various types of resources), build warships for your Officers to fight off pirates and the flesh-monsters that keep coming in and harassing your resource colonies, Expand into the Precursor station to build up your base (functions very similarly to XCOM's base-building system), diplomating with aliens, and generally trying to pick up the pieces of the Federation.
You spend most of the game flying your officers around, either collecting resources or hunting down hostile fleets of ships. It's very much a resource-management game, but the combat's not too bad- different areas can have different effects on ships (mostly in the form of +100% resistance to Status Effect #1 or something similar), which makes you have to choose a variety of skills that doesn't rely on any one specific strategy, because if you do and there's a battle where ships are immune to the key part of the strategy, you're screwed.

If you're lucky, at any rate. Still, keep the earplug idea in mind. One sheet of tp, ripped in half, each folded and then rolled up. Insert into ears (twist slightly so they get in the ear canal and don't fall out) and you should have a solid alternative to not having real earplugs. They muffle noise fairly decently.
